Moss, Buffalo hold off Miami (Ohio) for 79-72 win
OXFORD, Ohio -- Justin Moss scored 23 and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Xavier Ford added a career-high 17 points to help Buffalo beat Miami (Ohio) 79-72 Wednesday night.
Shannon Evans scored 15 and Will Regan had 13 points and nine rebounds for Buffalo (10-3, 1-0 Mid-American), which made 25 of 32 free throws, while Miami made just 8 of 19 (42 percent). The Redhawks (5-9, 0-1) came into the game shooting 66.3 percent from the charity stripe.
The Bulls turned Miami's seven first-half turnovers into 12 points and took a 42-26 lead into halftime.
A jumper by Ford made it 49-32 with 16:57 remaining, but a 21-7 run pulled the Redhawks within three, 56-53, 4- 1/2 minutes later before a 7-0 run cut the deficit to 69-67 with 2:37 left.
Regan converted a four-point play about 30 seconds later and Buffalo made 6 of 8 from the free throw line in the final minute to seal it.
