Northern Illinois defeats Aurora 86-56
DEKALB, Ill. -- Jordan Threloff had 17 points and 16 rebounds to lead Northern Illinois to an 86-56 win over Division III opponent Aurora to start the season on Saturday.
Aaric Armstead finished with 15 points and eight rebounds, including 7 for 7 from the free throw line and Aaron Armstead finished with 11 points. The Huskies shot 35 free throws, making 28 for 80 percent.
Kyle Pilmer finished with 15 points and six rebounds and Brandon Smith added eight points and a team-high two 3-pointers for the Aurora. Northern Illinois outrebounded Aurora 56 to 25.
Northern Illinois led 16-14 midway through the first half and went on a 22-4 run to coast toward a 42-25 halftime lead. All 11 of Aaron Armstead's points came in the second half.
