Saint Mary's shoots past Pepperdine 68-59
MALIBU, Calif. -- Aaron Bright and Brad Waldow each scored 15 points and Saint Mary's beat Pepperdine 68-59 on Thursday night for the Gaels' fourth straight win.
Kerry Carter added 14 points and Desmond Simmons and Garrett Jackson 11 apiece for the Gaels (10-3, 3-0 West Coast Conference), who defeated the Waves for the 17th consecutive time.
Pepperdine led the nation in 3-point defense at 20.7 percent, but the Gaels made 9 of 17 for 52.9 percent.
Lamond Murray Jr. scored 11 points and Stacy Davis and Jeremy Major 10 apiece for the Waves (8-5, 1-1).
Two baskets by Bright put Saint Mary's up 17-15 and started a 19-6 run to end the half capped by Bright's 3-pointer for a 32-21 lead.
The Gaels had their biggest lead at 15 when Pepperdine went on 10-1 run to cut the lead to six, 50-44, with 9:54 left, but the Waves got no closer.
