Pepperdine rolls over Fresno State 89-74
MALIBU, Calif. -- Stacy Davis scored 22 and Jeremy Major added 21 points to lead Pepperdine to an 89-74 season-opening win over Fresno State on Friday night.
Amadi Udenyi and Shawn Olden added 13 points apiece for the Waves.
Pepperdine won it at the free throw line, making 26 of 32 while Fresno State was only 14 of 23. Pepperdine made 29 field goals compared to Fresno State's 28.
Pepperdine held a 41-35 halftime lead and quickly stretched that to 47-37 after Udenyi made a free throw and a 3-pointer jump shot and Stacy Davis hit a jumper. The Bulldogs closed the gap to 74-65 following a Marvelle Harris dunk with 5:20 left, but could get no closer.
Harris led Fresno State with 25 points and six assists and Julien Lewis added 19 points.
