Thomas, Hass lead Bucknell past Lafayette 79-69
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Zach Thomas scored 21 points, Chris Hass had 15 with 10 rebounds and Bucknell defeated Lafayette 79-69 on Wednesday night.
The Bison (7-9, 2-1 Patriot League) shot 42.9 percent from the field and got 40 points from their bench. Thomas scored 15 of his points in the second half, made all four 3-point attempts, and grabbed eight rebounds. Steven Kaspar added 10 points and J.C. Show had nine for Bucknell.
Dan Trist led Lafayette (9-5, 1-2) with 20 points while Seth Hinrichs and Joey Ptasinski had 12 apiece. Monty Boykins chipped in 10 points for the Leopards, who shot 27 of 71 overall (38 percent).
Bucknell overcame a slow start, erasing an early 10-2 deficit and pushing toward a 32-26 halftime advantage. Thomas drilled a 3-pointer and Nana Foulland converted a three-point play during an 11-3 run that made it 61-44 with 8:05 left, and Bucknell coasted from there.
