Sears leads Yale past Lafayette 82-60
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Justin Sears scored 17 points, Javier Duren added 15 and Yale dominated the first half and coasted to an 82-60 win over Lafayette on Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs (5-1) shot 58.8 percent in the first half, including 9 of 16 from 3-point range, to roll to a 51-28 lead. They finished their fifth-straight win at 49 percent (29 of 59), missing all four 3's in the second half.
Armani Cotton added 11 points and 13 rebounds and Makai Mason had 10 points, making 4 of 5 shots coming off the bench.
Seth Hinrichs and Nick Lindner combined for 22 points for the Leopards (3-2).
Yale had a 47-20 rebounding advantage with 19 coming on the offensive end. Sears had nine rebounds, six offensive, and blocked three shots.
The Bulldogs went 16 of 25 from the foul line while Lafayette was just 4 of 9.
