Larson leads South Dakota past Western Illinois 75-61
VERMILLION, S.D. -- Tyler Larson scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out a career-high seven assists to help South Dakota roll to a 75-61 victory over Western Illinois on Thursday night.
South Dakota had a one-point lead at the break, opened the second on a 14-0 run to take a 49-34 lead with 16:02 remaining, and coasted from there.
Tre Burnette scored 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting, and Brandon Bos added 18 points with five assists and two steals for South Dakota (11-13, 5-5 Summit League) to snap a three-game losing skid.
Jamie Batish hit a 3 to pull the Leathernecks within 54-45, but they would not get closer.
J.C. Fuller had 18 points, Garret Covington had 14 and Batish chipped in 13 points for Western Illinois (8-13, 3-7), which has lost seven of its past eight games.
