Tulsa holds off South Florida 78-71 in OT
TULSA, Okla. -- Rashad Smith scored 21 points, James Woodard added 16, including four 3-pointers, and Tulsa beat Southern Florida 78-71 in overtime Saturday to remain in first place in the American Athletic Conference.
Rashad Ray scored 13 points for Tulsa (16-5, 9-0), and Shaquille Harrison and Brandon Swannegan scored 12 each, with Swannegan grabbing a career-high 15 rebounds.
It's the 20th straight conference win for the Golden Hurricane, including conference tournament, the longest streak in program history.
Corey Allen Jr. scored a career-high 32 for USF (7-15, 1-8), including a 3 with four seconds left to give the Bulls a 33-30 halftime lead. He missed a 3 with one second left in regulation and the game tied at 62.
Smith's 3 with 54 seconds left in OT put Tulsa up 74-69. Allen's jumper pulled USF within 74-71, but Ray made two free throws and Tulsa hung on.
