Ousmane Drame secures Quinnipiac's 60-59 win over Fairfield
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Ousmane Drame had 12 points and 11 rebounds including a pair of free throws with 22 seconds left to cap the scoring in Quinnipiac's 60-59 win over Fairfield on Friday.
Drame grabbed the defensive rebound in the final seconds to secure the win for Quinnipiac (14-10, 8-7 Metro Atlantic) after Marcus Gilbert failed to finish a couple of attempts near the rim.
Fairfield (6-19, 4-11) took its first lead at 56-54 on Gilbert's basket with 2:19 to go. Quinnipiac went back in front with four quick points, but Gilbert made three of his next four free throws to put the Stags up 59-58 with 40 seconds left.
Justin Harris led the Bobcats with 23 points, including a 3-pointer that gave Quinnipiac its largest lead at 35-24. Zaid Hearst added 13 points.
Gilbert finished with 22 points and Tyler Nelson added 15 as the Stags lost their eight straight.
