Okereafor helps Rider top Canisius, 60-59
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Teddy Okereafor hit a pair of free throws with :07 left to cement Rider's 60-59 win over Canisius on Friday night.
Okereafor drilled a 3-pointer with :34 left to give the Broncs a six-point lead, 58-52, but Canisius battled back. Josiah Heath got to the basket for a layup and Zach Lewis scored on a tip-in with :11 left to make it 58-56. Okereafor's two free throws made it 60-56 and the Golden Griffins' Kassius Robertson knocked down a 3-pointer for the final margin.
Okereafor finished with 15 points and dished off eight assists to lead Rider (17-9, 11-4 Metro Atlantic). Jimmie Taylor added 13 points.
Heath finished with 20 points to lead Canisius (12-12, 7-8), which now has lost four straight and five of its last six. No other scorer reached double figures.
Rider plays at Niagara Sunday while Canisius plays host to Saint Peter's.
