VMI blasts Marist, 92-77
LEXINGTON, Va. -- QJ Peterson scored 25 points, including six 3-pointers, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out four assists to lead VMI to a 92-77 victory over Marist on Saturday afternoon.
Tim Marshall added 20 points and also hit six threes for VMI (5-6, 1-1 Southern Conference). Brian Brown finished with 13 points and five assists, and Trey Chapman had 10 points and six assists for VMI.
Overall, the Keydets attempted 55 3-pointers, hitting 19 from downtown, and had 24 assists as a team compared to just eight for Marist (1-9, 0-2 Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference).
Eric Truog finished with 26 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Red Foxes. James Griffin added 13 points and Manny Thomas had 12 for Marist.
VMI held a 56-42 lead at the break, helped in large part by a 25-9 scoring stretch late in the first half.
