Northern Arizona clips Portland State, 58-51
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Aaseem Dixon scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help lead Northern Arizona past Portland State 58-51 on Thursday night.
Gaellan Bewernick finished with 11 points and 13 boards off the bench for the Lumberjacks (17-13, 12-5 Big Sky), who have won six of their last seven.
Northern Arizona hosts Sacramento State in the regular season finale Saturday, one game behind the first place Hornets in the conference standings.
With the game tied at 45 with 4:13 to play, the Lumberjacks closed on a 13-6 scoring stretch, highlighted by a Quinton Upshur dunk off a Dixon assist, to put away the Vikings for good.
DaShaun Wiggins scored 15 points and added eight rebounds for Portland State (14-13, 8-9), which held Northern Arizona to just 31.8 percent shooting but lost the rebounding battle 55-32, including giving up 25 on the offensive end.
