ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Karl Cochran scored 22 points and Eric Garcia added 19 as No. 3 seed Wofford defeated 11th-seeded The Citadel 68-51 in a Southern Conference tournament quarterfinal on Saturday night.
Wofford (18-12) will play No. 7 seed Georgia Southern (15-18) in the semifinals on Sunday.
Ashton Moore made two free throws to pull The Citadel within five points, 52-47 with 5:41 remaining. The Terriers answered with a 12-1 run to take a 64-48 lead with 2:03 to play. Garcia scored seven points and Cochran added five during the span.
Cochran was 7 of 16 from the floor, including four 3-pointers. Garcia made 7 of 9 shots, three from beyond the arc.
Ashton Moore was the only Bulldog scoring in double figures. He had 24 points on 8-of-22 shooting and dished out four assists for The Citadel (7-26), which snapped a three-game win streak.
