Rivers, Wagner outlast Fairleigh Dickinson 67-64
TEANECK, N.J. -- Latif Rivers scored 18 points and hit two late free throws to help Wagner outlast Fairleigh Dickinson 67-64 Monday night.
The Seahawks (16-11, 10-4 Northeast Conference) shot 45.5 percent from the field. Marcus Burton finished with 15 points and Kenneth Ortiz added 13.
Fairleigh Dickinson (10-18, 6-8) was led by Scooter Gillette with 19 points and nine rebounds and Sidney Sanders Jr. had 15 points with nine assists.
Wagner erased a late seven-point deficit as Rivers hit a 3-pointer and Burton hit two more to surge into a 61-60 lead. A Gillette three-point play and two Ortiz free throws knotted it at 63.
After a split pair of free throws by Mathias Seilund, Rivers sank two to go up 65-64. Gillette missed two free throws, and Dwaun Anderson followed with a pair for the final margin. Rivers blocked Malachi Nix's 3-point attempt in the final seconds.
