Metro State tops Farleigh Dickinson 87-76
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Mitch McCarron scored a career-high 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Metro State to an 87-76 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson Tuesday night in a consolation game of the NIT Season Tip-Off.
McCarron, an Australian junior for the No. 1-ranked NCAA Division II Roadrunners, scored 22 in the first half.
Metro State led by as many as 22 in the first half and was up 49-33 at halftime. Fairleigh Dickinson cut it to 66-60 on Mustafaa Jones' 3-pointer with 8:13 to play but the Knights could get no closer.
Brandon Jefferson added 28 points for Metro State. Sidney Sanders scored 22 for FDU (1-3).
The Roadrunners (3-0) lost to Rhode Island 66-63 Monday night but the game was an exhibition and doesn't count in the win-loss record.
