NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Desmond Haymon scored five of his season-high 21 points on a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer early in the second half as Stephen F. Austin walked away from James Madison 70-57 Saturday night.
The win made Stephen F. Austin (8-2), up only five at halftime, 2-0 in its own E-Tech Lumberjack Classic, matching schools from the Colonial Athletic and Southern conferences. The Lumberjacks have won 22 in a row at home.
The Lumberjacks, who led all the way, outscored James Madison 9-3 over the first five minutes of the second half as Haymon hit a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws, extending the halftime lead to 42-31. Haymon scored 14 points in the second half. Jacob Parker added 15 points and Thomas Walkup 12.
The Dukes (2-8) went cold after intermission as Charles Cooke (team-high 19 points) scored James Madison's only 5 points in an eight-minute stretch.
