MALIBU, Calif. -- Malcolm Brooks scored 16 points and Jett Raines a career-high 15 on 7-of-7 shooting as Pepperdine defeated Loyola Marymount 80-69 Saturday night.
Anthony Ireland scored 24 points for Loyola Marymount (11-12, 3-8 West Coast Conference) to go over 2,000 career points. He's fifth on the Lions' career scoring list with 2,009 points, one back of Bo Kimble (1987-90).
The Waves (13-10, 6-5), who snapped a two-game losing streak, led by two with 3:21 left before scoring the game's final nine points. There were 10 lead changes in the second half.
Stacy Davis added 12 points and Brendan Lane and Nikolas Skouen 10 each for Pepperdine, which held a 41-29 rebounding edge.
Gave Levin, hitting all 10 of his free-throw attempts, added 16 points and Evan Payne 13 for the Lions, who have lost eight of their last nine.
Pepperdine has beaten LMU in Malibu 15 of the last 16 years.
