Kelly's jumper lifts Samford over Furman 57-55
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Raijon Kelly made a go-ahead jumper for Samford with 11.3 seconds left and Tim Williams clinched the win with a block as time expired in a 57-55 victory over Furman Saturday night.
Samford was down 55-54 with 17.9 seconds left, when Kelly took the inbounds pass from the top of the key and drove right for a 17-foot pull-up jumper. Kelly was fouled and converted the three-point play.
On the other end, Stephen Croone drove under the basket and attempted a game-tying shot for Furman, but Williams rejected him as time expired for his fifth block.
Tyler Hood had 13 points and Isaiah Williams scored 11 for the Bulldogs (7-12, 1/3 Southern Conference).
Kendrec Ferrara led Furman (6-11, 0-4) with 20 points and Croone added 11.
The game was tied nine times, the last time coming at 52-52. Croone broke the tie with a 3-pointer that put Furman up 55-52.
