Georgia Southern overwhelms Toccoa Falls 104-50
STATESBORO, Ga. -- Tre Bussey and Jelani Hewitt combined for 52 points as Georgia Southern overwhelmed Toccoa Falls 104-50 Saturday.
Bussey, was 11 of 13 from the floor for 29 points, hitting 7 of 9 3-point shots. He also pulled down nine rebounds. Hewitt had 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting, making 4-of-9 3-point tries.
As a team the Eagles hit 48.6% of their 3-point attempts and were 39 of 69 from the floor.
Georgie Southern (2-1) dominated from the beginning, streaking to a 34-8 lead midway of the first half and led 60-16 at the break. The Eagles slowed the pace in the second half but still outscored Toccoa Falls (0-4)30-19.
The Eagles were still smarting from an 81-80 overtime loss to defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Miami on Monday.
Derek Westfall, with 15 points, and Devian Clark, 13 points, led the scoring for Toccoa Falls.
