BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Javon McCrea scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Buffalo defeated Division II West Virginia Wesleyan 80-60 on Saturday.
McCrea shot 5 of 9 from the field and split his rebounds evenly with seven offensive and seven defensive in the first win for the Bulls (1-2). Will Regan, Joshua Freelove, Jarod Oldham and Xavier Ford all scored in double digits. Buffalo shot 4 of 15 (26.7 percent) from behind the arc.
The Bulls pushed out to a 40-27 lead at the half, and outscored West Virginia Wesleyan (1-3) by just seven points in the final 20 minutes. The Bobcats shot 11 of 30 (36.7 percent) from 3-point range, and Brett Ervin led the Bobcats with 14 points -- hitting 4 of 8 from behind the arc.
Both teams were evenly matched on the boards -Buffalo finished with 33 rebounds and the Bobcats finished with 32.
