Cleveland State holds off Detroit 86-78
DETROIT -- Bryn Forbes tied a career high with 27 points, hitting 4 of 6 from beyond the arc, to lift Cleveland State to an 86-78 win over Detroit on Friday night.
Trailing early, Cleveland State (15-9, 6-3 Horizon League) took control with a 16-2 run capped by a Forbes trey that made it 20-11 with 9:33 left in the first half and never lost the lead again. Forbes extended his school record to 24 straight games with at least one 3-pointer.
Sebastian Douglas contributed 14 points, Jon Harris added 12 and Charlie Lee had 10 and seven assists for the Vikings, who shot 60 percent from the field to take their fourth straight win. Cleveland State also dominated at the free throw line, hitting 21 of 29 to Detroit's 11 of 17.
Detroit (10-14, 3-6) shot 52 percent from the field and got 20 points from Juwan Howard Jr.
