New Hampshire Wildcats @ Brown Bears
Brown holds on to beat New Hampshire 72-68
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Sean McGonagill scored 23 points, including three free throws inside the final minute, as Brown survived a late rally to defeat New Hampshire 72-68 Tuesday night.
Brown (7-6) had led by as many as 19 after halftime before New Hampshire (2-12) mounted a comeback in the final 13 minutes, sparked by a Jaleen Smith 3-pointer.
Smith, who finished with a career-high 15 points, sank another 3 to pull the Wildcats within 69-63 with 34 seconds left. But McGonagill and Steven Spieth sank 3 of 4 free throws in the final seconds to blunt the comeback try and end a four-game losing streak for Brown.
McGonagill, the Ivy League's leading scorer, hit 7 of 12 field goals, including 4 of 8 3-pointers. Tavon Blackmon added 14 and Dockery Walker 10 in his first start.
Jordon Bronner led the Wildcats with 23 points, including a bucket in the final second.
