Burton, Evans lift Nevada by Colorado St. 76-67
RENO, Nev. -- Deonte Burton scored 18 points and Jerry Evans, Jr., had 16 as Nevada defeated Colorado State 76-67 Wednesday.
Starting with Burton's free throw to complete a three-point play that made it 58-47 with 10:04 to play, Nevada (11-10, 6-2 Mountain West) scored 15 of its last 18 points from the foul line. The only basket was an Evans 3.
AJ West and Cole Huff each added 12 points for the Wolf Pack, which finished 25-33 from the line.
Jon Octeus had 21 points, making all 12 of his free throws, for the Rams (12-9, 3-5). Daniel Bejarano had 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Nevada got some breathing room with an 11-0 run after CSU tied the game at 38. It started and ended with three-point plays by West and Marqueze Coleman sandwiched by a steal and layup by Burton and an Evans 3.
Nevada led 33-28 at the half.
