George Washington takes 69-58 victory over Hofstra
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Maurice Creek had 17 points and four steals to lead George Washington to a 69-58 victory over Hofstra Saturday.
Creek made 6 of 9 field goal attempts, making 3 of 6 from beyond the arc. Kevin Larsen contributed 14 points and Kethan Savage had 12 for George Washington (11-1).
Hofstra (3-8) jumped out to a 6-1 lead and held a 32-29 advantage at the break. There were four lead changes in the first half.
Savage opened the second period with a jumper and a free throw to start George Washington on a 24-10 run and give the Colonials a 53-42 lead midway of the second half. The Pride could not recover as George Washington won the second half 40-26.
The Colonials scored 32 of their points in the paint, compared to Hofstra's 18.
Dion Nesmith led Hofstra with 17 points, Zeke Upshaw contributed 11 and Darren Payen had 10.
