Northeastern beats NC-Wilmington 79-68 in OT
BOSTON -- David Walker scored eight of his 18 points in overtime as Northeastern exploded away from North Carolina-Wilmington 79-68 on Wednesday night, scoring 21 in the extra period.
Walker, Scott Eatherton and Reggie Spencer hit quick baskets in overtime as Northeastern broke away. Eatherton finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Demetrius Pollard 17 points and Reggie Spencer 10 points and 15 rebounds for the Huskies (4-11, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association).
NC-Wilmington scored eight points in the final 37 seconds of regulation to force the extra period -- Cedric Williams and Chris Dixon hitting 3-pointers and Williams making two free throws. Dixon led the Seahawks (6-11, 0-2) with 15 points and Williams added 11, but the Seahawks hit just 39.7 percent from the field and made 4 of 14 3-point tries.
Northeastern went to the line 37 times thanks to 26 NC-Wilmington fouls, and added 26 points on free throws.
