Hofstra Pride @ Richmond Spiders
Richmond edges past Hoffstra 74-63 in OT
RICHMOND, Va. -- Derrick Williams converted a three-point play to force overtime, and Cedric Lindsay scored five of his team-high 26 points in the extra period as Richmond broke away from Hofstra 74-63.
The win overcame a 37-point performance from Zeke Upshaw, who more than doubled his average points per game (15.3) and scored all five points in OT for Hofstra (1-3).
A seven-point flurry by Upshaw had Hofstra ahead 33-24 at halftime, a lead the Pride kept much of the second half.
Lindsay, Kendall Anthony (18 points) and Terry Allen (7) steadily chipped away until Richmond (3-1) pulled into a 58-58 tie with 43 seconds left in regulation. Williams, who scored only two field goals, made a layup and added a free throw when he was fouled by Upshaw.
In overtime, five different players scored for the Spiders. The contest was part of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tipoff tournament.
