James Madison beats San Jose State 79-66
DEKALB, Ill. -- Taylor Bessick scored a game-high 19 points on Sunday and three teammates also scored in double digits to lift James Madison over San Jose State 79-66.
Charles Cooke opened the game with a 3-pointer and the Dukes (3-2) never trailed, taking a 41-28 halftime lead. The Spartans (0-5) had difficulty penetrating the lane and getting shots to drop. They attempted 40 3-pointers, making 10, and shot 33.9 percent from the field on 21-of-62 shooting.
Cooke and Tom Vodanovich each scored 15 points for the Dukes and Vodanovich had a game-high eight rebounds. Ron Curry added 11 points and led the team with seven free throws. James Madison shot 44.9 percent from the field on 22-of-49 shooting and made seven of 22 three-point attempts.
Rashad Muhammad scored 18 points for the Spartans (0-5) and Dylan Alexander added 12.
