Gill leads New Orleans past SE Louisiana 90-85
HAMMOND, La. -- Christavious Gill scored a career-high 21 points as New Orleans beat Southeastern Louisiana 90-85 Thursday night, giving the Privateers their first three-game winning streak of the season.
Jeffery Ricard's layup with 12:10 to play gave Southeastern (9-11, 4-5 Southland Conference) a 57-51 lead. New Orleans responded with a 20-6 run, capped by a three-point play from Kevin Hill, to open up and eight-point lead with just more than 7 minutes remaining.
The Privateers (8-9, 5-4) made 9 of 10 free throws in the final 1:08 to hold off the Lions.
Cory Dixon scored 18, Tradarrius McPhearson 15, Isaac Mack 13 and Tevin Broyles 11 for New Orleans, which made 30 of 55 (54.5 percent) field goals. Mack added eight rebounds.
JaMichael Hawkins paced Southeastern Louisiana with 23 points. Antonio Benton added 20 points and seven rebounds while Joshua Filmore scored 17.
