Fotu leads Hawaii past CS Fullerton 83-80
FULLERTON, Calif. -- Isaac Fotu scored 17 of his 24 points in the second half as Hawaii won its fourth consecutive road game -- for the first time since the 1971-72 season -- beating Cal State Fullerton 83-80 Saturday night.
Garrett Nevels hit a 3 with 1:03 remaining, giving Hawaii an 81-78 lead. Alex Harris made a pair of free throws 8 seconds later to make it a one-point game.
Nevels pushed the Rainbow Warriors' lead back to three when he hit two free throws with 16 seconds remaining.
Harris missed a 3 in the waning seconds.
Brandon Spearman added 14 points and Nevels 12 for Hawaii (18-7, 7-4 Big West). Keith Shamburger finished with 11 points and nine assists while Christian Standhardinger scored 10 and grabbed nine rebounds.
Harris scored a career-high 29 points to pace Fullerton (8-16, 3-7).
Hawaii shot 50 percent overall and made 24 of 26 free throws.
