Washington, St. Peter's move past Rider 77-69
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. -- Desi Washington scored 21 points and Marvin Dominique added 16 as St. Peter's defeated Rider 77-69 Thursday night.
The Peacocks (7-9, 3-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) used a 12-3 run in the first half to push ahead and lead 31-26 at the break. Rider opened the second half on a quick 5-0 run to tie the game at 31, but St. Peter's countered with a 10-1 surge to lead by 10 at the midway mark.
Rider (8-8, 4-3) pulled within four with 1:06 remaining, but the Peacocks made 13 of their last 14 free throws in the final minute to ice the game.
St. Peter's shot 40.4 percent from the field and was 31 of 35 on free throw attempts. Trevis Wyche scored 14 points, going 9 of 10 from the foul line.
Daniel Stewart led the Broncs with 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting and Jimmie Taylor chipped in 14.
