St. Peter's outplays Quinnipiac 74-67
JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Chris Burke scored 18 points while Quadir Welton muscled 11 rebounds and St. Peter's never trailed in beating Quinnipiac 74-67 on Sunday.
The Peacocks made just 35 percent of their field goal attempts, but netted six more 3's than Quinnipiac which made just two from long range.
Desi Washington and Trevis Wyche put St. Peter's (6-9, 2-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) up by 13 in the second period, hitting consecutive 3-pointer's and upping the lead to 49-36 at 9:46.
Quinnipiac (9-6, 4-2) cut in to that lead, but sent St. Peters to the free throw line ten times in the final 2:45 with the Peacocks making 16 of 20 tries in marking the victory.
Quinnipiac shot only 33 percent on the night with Ousmane Drame leading the Bobcat scorers with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Ike Azotam also had 14 rebounds and scored 16 points in the losing effort.
