Hart scores 15 as Marist defeats Fairfield 75-56
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Khallid Hart scored 15 points to lead Marist to its fourth straight win in a 75-56 victory over Fairfield on Thursday night.
Marist (4-9, 1-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) held Fairfield scoreless for the first 8:30 to open the game and limited the Stags to only 19 first-half points. The Red Foxes' four-game winning streak followed a nine-game skid to open the season.
Chavaughn Lewis and Jay Bowie each scored 14 and Manny Thomas added 10 for the Red Foxes which made 32 of 40 free throws compared to only 11 of 17 for the Stags.
Fairfield (3-10, 0-3) closed the gap to 41-35, but Marist went on second-half runs of 8-0 and 11-2 to build its largest lead at 66-44.
Sean Grennan was 4 of 5 from 3-point range to lead Fairfield with 14 points. Coleman Johnson scored 11 and Marcus Gilbert had 10.
