Hearst leads Quinnipiac rout of Maine 102-61
BANGOR, Maine -- Quinnipiac had five players score in double figures, three of them with double-doubles, to coast to a 102-61 win at Maine on Monday night.
Zaid Hearst had 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Bobcats (4-1) and he had plenty of help. Umar Shannon scored 19 points, Ousmane Drame had 17, Ike Azotam had 14 and Kasim Chandler had a dozen off the bench. Azotam and Drame also had 12 rebounds.
Xavier Pollard and Dimitry Akanda-Coronel had 18 points each for Maine (1-4).
Quinnipiac dominated the boards with 60 rebounds to just 29 for the Black Bears. Quinnipiac shot 46 percent but with 24 offensive rebounds put up 80 shots while Maine was 19 of 53, 36 percent.
The Bobcats took control early with a 14-0 run that produced a 16-4 lead just 8 minutes into the game. Maine clawed back within two but trailed by 12 at half.
