Siena beats St. Bonaventure 72-70
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- Marquis Wright shot from his hip with less than a second to play to hit the winning basket Tuesday and Siena beat St. Bonaventure 72-70 in a nail-biter.
St. Bonaventure had the ball and a chance to win with 9 seconds to go but turned it over. After a Siena timeout, Wright got the ball, shot from his hip and swished it with two-tenths of a second left.
Lavon Long led the Saints (1-3) with 15 points, Evan Hymes had 10 and Brett Bisping added 13.
Youssou Ndoye led the Bonnies (3-1) with 16 points and 12 rebounds, Dion Wright scored 14 points, Matthew Wright 13, and Andell Cumberbatch had 10.
Siena led 48-38 at the half, but the Bonnies tied it at 70 with 1:16 to play on a free throw by Matthew Wright. Ndoye got a rebound and the chance but lost the ball, setting up the buzzer-beater.
