LAFAYETTE, La. -- Bryant Mbamalu scored 21 points to fuel Louisiana-Lafayette en route to its season-best sixth straight win, 78-63 over visiting Troy Thursday night.
Louisiana Lafayette (18-9, 9-5 Sun Belt) went more than four minutes without a basket midway through the first half and trailed 16-10 before Hayward Register drilled a 3-pointer to spark a 21-6 run that gave the Ragin' Cajuns a 31-22 lead at intermission.
Louisiana-Lafayette shot a crisp 54.4 percent from the field (31 of 57), hitting 5 of 17 from distance while its defense held Troy to 21 of 54 from the field (38.9 percent)
Shawn Long scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Louisiana-Lafayette, with Elfrid Payton adding another 15 points.
