MONROE, La. -- Tylor Ongwae recorded career-highs by scoring 27 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and blocking three shots as Louisiana-Monroe outlasted Louisiana-Lafayette 103-98 in double-overtime Saturday.
Jayon James, Marvin Williams and Amos Olatayo scored 16 point apiece and R.J. McCray added 11 in the win. James tied a career-high by pulling down 12 rebounds while handing out five assists. Ongwae also set a career-high for field goals, making 11 of 21.
Lafayette's Elfrid Payton opened the second overtime with a pair of free throws before ULM (4-5, 1-0 Sun Belt) rattled off nine straight points to take a 95-87 lead with 1:24 remaining.
Xavian Rimmer's 3-pointer 20 seconds later pulled the Ragin' Cajuns (9-5, 0-1) within 95-91, but the Warhawks made 6 of 7 free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
Payton set or tied career-highs with 34 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists while adding five steals.
