Denver trumps IPFW 73-62
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Bryant Rucker and Brett Olson both scored 18 points as Denver trumped Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne 73-62 on Saturday.
Denver (13-12, 6-4 Summit) used an 11-4 run late in the first half, including a pair of treys by Rucker, to lead 35-25 at half. Fort Wayne shot 50 percent in the half, but eight turnovers limited its total number of shots and the team went 1 of 6 on 3-pointers. IPFW finished with 21 turnovers.
IPFW (19-9, 7-4) trimmed its deficit to three at 52-49 with 8:08 left on a tip-in by Joe Reed, but missed its next four shots as Denver went on an 11-4 run to wrest control of the game. Denver made 7 of 8 free throws inside of 1:07 to seal the victory.
Chris Udofia added 16 points and five assists for Denver, which was out-rebounded 31-16.
Fort Wayne was led by Pierre Bland with 15 points.
