IPFW too much for Kalamazoo 110-74
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Luis Jacobo and Joe Reed both scored 18 points and IPFW defeated Kalamazoo 110-74 on Saturday in the Mastodons' final nonconference game before beginning Summit League play.
The Mastodons, who scored the second-most points in the program's Division I history, made 38 of 59 shots for 64.4 percent. IPFW also hit 16 3-pointers, tying a school record. Mo Evans added 15 points, Isaiah McCray 14, and Steve Forbes and Pierre Bland 12 apiece.
The Mastodons (12-5) have won six out of their last seven and are off to their best Division I start for 17 games.
The Division III Hornets (5-6) were led by Adam Dykema with 20 points, Carter Goetz 17 and Chase Baysdell 10.
The Mastodons led 54-39 at the half behind 13 points from Reed and 10 from McCray. A 10-0 run to start the second half left IPFW up 66-41 with 16:07 remaining in the game.
