IPFW cruises past Eastern Illinois 86-65
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Steve Forbes scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds as IPFW cruised to an 86-65 victory over Eastern Illinois on Saturday.
Forbes was 6 of 8 from the field and nailed 8 of 8 free throws. Luis Jacobo came off the bench to post 18 points and six rebounds for the Mastodons (9-4). Isaiah McCray had 15 points with four assists and a steal. IPFW sank 54.7 percent from the field, 62.5 percent from the line and 56.5 percent from 3-point range.
IPFW had a 54-39 advantage at halftime and started the second period with an 11-2 run fueled by Forbes and Michael Kibiloski to put the game out of reach of the Panthers.
The win was the fourth straight for the Mastodons and the sixth straight loss for the Panthers.
Alex Austin led the Panthers (3-7) with 16 points.
