Columbia defeats American U 61-47
NEW YORK -- Luke Petrasek scored a career-high 19 points and three others scored in double figures to lead Columbia over American University 61-47 Tuesday night.
Columbia (4-3) had a lead of at least six points the entire second half. Petrasek and Meiko Lyles hit back-to-back three-pointers to give the Lions a 46-33 lead with 13:16 remaining, yet the Lions would only shoot two of nine from the floor the rest of the night.
Lyles scored ten points. Maodo Lo had a game-high three 3-pointers to go with his 13 points for the Lions.
Facing a 13-point halftime deficit, American's Darius Gardner scored six points to pull the Eagles within 35-29 at the 16:57 mark. American had a 7-0 run to pull within 46-40, taking nearly seven minutes before the Lions scored on a pair of free throws.
Tony Wroblicky and Gardner both scored 15 points to lead American (1-4).
