BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Jackson Trapp scored 23 points and hit 6 of 11 from beyond the arc as Florida Atlantic won its first home game as a member of Conference USA, beating East Carolina 78-67 on Thursday night.
Florida Atlantic (6-11, 2-1 Conference USA) went on an 11-2 run late in the second half to take a 65-57 lead with 5:35 to play. Florida Atlantic trailed by as many as 11 in the first half and didn't lead until the 15:33 mark in the second.
Justin Raffington and Pablo Bertone each added 12 points apiece for Florida Atlantic. Raffington led the Owls with 14 rebounds.
East Carolina (11-6, 0-2) shot just 36.8 percent from the field. Akeem Richmond led the Pirates with 20 points.
Florida Atlantic has won three of its last four after suffering a four-game losing streak.
