Tulsa outlasts Grand Canyon 66-65
TULSA, Okla. -- Lew Evans made a free throw with a second left to give Tulsa a 66-65 victory over Grand Canyon on Wednesday night in a coaching matchup of former Phoenix Suns teammates Danny Manning and Dan Majerle.
Rashad Smith led Tulsa (4-7), coached by Manning, with 15 points and nine rebounds. Shaquille Harrison also had 15 points, and James Woodard had 10 points and seven rebounds.
Demetrius Walker led Grand Canyon (5-5) with 20 points, and Killian Larson had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Evans made two free throws with 26 seconds left to give Tulsa a 65-64 lead. Demetrius Walker was fouled on the next possession, and hit the second free throw to tie it at 65.
Evans drew the final foul with a second to go and made his second attempt to give Tulsa the victory.
The game featured 10 ties and eight lead changes.
