UL-Lafayette wins at Louisiana Tech 89-80
RUSTON, La. -- Kasey Shepherd scored a career-high 22 to lead Louisiana-Lafayette to an 89-80 victory at Louisiana Tech on Wednesday night.
Lafayette (6-2) not only snapped Louisiana Tech's six-game winning streak, but also ended the Bulldogs' 19-game home winning streak, which was the sixth-longest in the nation.
The Ragin' Cajuns went on a 12-2 run to go ahead 77-64 with 2:48 left and were 8 of 8 from the free throw line in the final minute.
Shawn Long had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Elfrid Payton had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Ragin' Cajuns. Xavian Rimmer had 15 points and Kevin Brown added 10.
Alex Hamilton cut Lafayette's lead to 65-62 with 9:41 to play, but Louisiana Tech (6-2) went without a field goal over the next seven minutes.
Hamilton led Louisiana Tech with 17 points. Raheem Appleby had 13 points, Kenneth Smith had 12 and Kenyon McNeail 11.
