Florida Gulf Coast holds off Kennesaw State 78-68
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Jamail Jones scored 22 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Florida Gulf Coast to a 78-68 win over Kennesaw State on Sunday.
FGCU (19-10, 13-3 Atlantic Sun) led most of the game but had to hold off Kennesaw State, which tied the game at 48 on a Delbert Love 3-pointer midway through the second half. Brett Comer put the Eagles back on top for good with a layup that sparked a 10-2 run and later sank back-to-back 3-pointers to seal the win.
Comer finished with 18 points, Bernard Thompson 14, and Chase Fieler 12 for FGCU, which remains in a first-place tie with Mercer atop the conference standings with the win.
Kennesaw State (6-23, 3-13) was paced by Love, who scored 22 points. Myles Hamilton had 12 points and Nate Rucker 10 for the Owls, who were outrebounded 43-31 by the Eagles.
