Texas State defeats Northern Kentucky 70-61
PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico -- Kavin Gilder-Tilbury hit three 3-pointers and scored 14 points to lead Texas State over Northern Kentucky 70-61 Saturday night in the Cure UCD Classic.
Texas State (2-5) was 11 of 16 from 3-point range as seven Bobcats made at least one shot from beyond the arc. Phil Hawkins and Joel Wright also scored in double figures for the Bobcats.
Northern Kentucky (1-6) was not as hot from 3-point range, shooting 9 of 22. Cole Murray scored all nine of his points from 3-point range. Tyler White led the Norse with 14 points.
Texas State had a 42-23 halftime lead, yet were outscored by Northern Kentucky 38-28 in the second half.
Northern Kentucky also lost to Southeast Missouri State and defeated Tulane. Texas State defeated Tulane Friday, and Sunday concludes the Cure UCD Classic against Southeast Missouri State.
