Mercer eases to a 95-53 win over Reinhardt
MACON, Ga. -- Daniel Coursey scored 20 points, on 9-of-11 shooting, as Mercer dominated NAIA Division II Reinhardt 95-53 on Wednesday night.
Mercer (1-1) narrowly lost to Texas 76-73 in its opening game. Mercer led 55-22 at halftime and used a 10-0 run at the start of the second half to extend its lead. The Bears broke 90 points for the first time since Jan. 30, 2010.
Bud Thomas made 8-of-9 shots and finished with 18 points, and Ike Nwamu added 13 for Mercer. The Bears outrebounded Reinhardt 60-35.
Reinhardt shot just 26.5 percent in the game and no player finished in double figures. Quinton Woods, Reinhardt's leading scorer (averaging 16.2 a game), went 2-for-14, including 0-for-7 from 3-point range.
The win marked Bob Hoffman's 500th career win and his 100th with Mercer.
