NEW YORK -- Faronte Drakeford scored 25 points and Central Connecticut State went 7 of 7 from the free throw line in overtime as the Blue Devils beat LIU Brooklyn 86-82 Thursday night, securing a spot in the Northeast Conference tournament.
Brandon Peel finished with a career-high 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds for CCSU (10-18, 6-9 Northeast Conference).
E.J. Reed's layup with 1:01 left in overtime gave LIU Brooklyn (9-19, 4-11) an 80-79 lead but Drakeford completed a three-point play 32 seconds later and the Blue Devils never trailed again.
Malcolm McMillan and Matt Mobley each made a pair of free throws in the final 11 seconds to seal the win.
Kyle Vinales hit a deep 3-pointer as time expired in regulation to send the game into overtime.
LIU Brooklyn's Gerrell Martin scored a career-high 31 points and Brickman finished with 12 points and 10 assists.
