Liberty eases past Howard 77-59
LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Antwan Burrus had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead Liberty to a 77-59 victory over Howard Tuesday night.
Davon Marshall, who made 4 of 7 3-pointers, also had 16 points for Liberty (5-6) and Tomasz Gielo added 11.
The Flames took control of the boards, pulling down 40 rebounds compared to Howard's 25. Liberty also made 48.9 percent from the field while Howard (3-12) could only convert 19 of 52 field goal attempts.
Liberty jumped out to an early lead, but Howard came back to take the advantage 10-9 on a layup by Ausar Madison and free throw by Prince Okoroh. Liberty quickly retook the lead on a jump shot by Casey Roberts. The Flames stretched that to a 36-21 advantage with 3:11 remaining in the first period and led 40-25 at the half.
Okoroh led the Bison with 24 points. Solomon Mangham contributed 10.
