Powers lifts DII Chowan over Campbell 67-65 in OT
BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Warren Powers scored five of his game-high 22 points in overtime as Division II Chowan defeated Campbell 67-65 Tuesday night.
Campbell (4-5) never led in regular and after ties at 3 and 5 fell behind by as many as 13 in the second half before charging back to force overtime on Andrew Ryan's 3-pointer with 27 seconds left in regulation. Ryan led the Camels with 19.
Powers made two free throws at the 2:05 mark of overtime to give the Hawks (3-3), who counted the game as an exhibition, the lead for good at 65-64.
The Chowan front line of Powers, Ashante Ross and Phoenix Butler-Poole was impressive. Ross had 17 points and 13 rebounds, Butler-Pooler had 20 and nine plus five assists.
Darius Leonard added 14 points for Campbell
Chowan was up 56-45 with 3:52 left but a 9-0 run in 95 seconds got Campbell back in the game.
