Northern Arizona blasts Eastern Washington 84-65
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Quinton Upshur contributed a season-high 26 points and Northern Arizona remained atop the Big Sky Conference in drubbing Eastern Washington 84-65 on Thursday night.
Northern Arizona (7-9, 4-1) finished the first half with a 9-3 run, taking a 36-27 lead into the break in what was otherwise a tightly contested period.
The Lumberjacks scored the first six points of the second half and it was no contest the rest of the way. Dixon's 3-pointer at 13:10 and Gaellan Bewernic's layup 40 seconds later put Northern Arizona ahead 60-35 and the Lumberjacks cruised to their third straight Big Sky victory.
Ako Kaluna and Aaseem Dixon scored 15 points apiece for Northern Arizona.
Eastern Washington (7-9, 2-3) managed a paltry 30 percent from the field and was only 4 of 23 from long range. Tyler Harvey led the Eagles with 25 points. Venky Jois scored 14 and grabbed 13 boards.
